My studio work is shaped by my understanding of my own red thread. Every painting, sculpture or essay is in some way about how life speaks to me through the memories, dreams, places, and symbols that haunt me. I make colorful, narrative paintings that look childlike and naive in their simplicity using acrylics, oil pastels, crayons, and gouache. I paint on whatever I find lying around and have a particular fondness for crumpled packing paper. I’m currently making small paper mache sculptures of animals that have crossed my path, acting as guardians and guides in times of need. I’m also painting a collage on our interior ceiling using old artworks and new ones, patching them together to tell the story of my own red thread in images, signs, and symbols that speak to me. I’ll share more photos when I can, here and on IG.
